The Hill Reflections

A special place

It’s been a while since I have written here. Writing for myself has always been a tricky affair.

It’s only when I am on this place that thoughts begin to flow, the negatives are out and the positive flows in.

Day 1: The Core

It always starts from the core. Somewhere between your stomach and your chest.

You start thinking about the old memories, the person you wanted to be with, you had plans with, fights with, but always resolutions in end…. but that person does not exist anymore.

Even if you could fix things, it’s too late, that person has gone, faded away in the sands of time.

I always act oblivious even though I know all that is happening around. I do this so as to not put the other person in a situation where their most evilest actions will get unveiled.

Day 1 is always the hardest. It is the day when you finally decide to let go.

But my observations are always on point, even to the body. Emotion hits the core first. How I wish I had a off switch. But then, I wouldn’t learn from my experiences.

The Battle of the Wooden Draw

He had known for a while now. They were breeding, growing and corrupting at an extremely high rate.

He kept putting it off and the corruption kept spreading, until there was a point where he could ignore it no longer.

He had to attack swifty. He found their secret camping base and removed it with all his might.

The draw was laid down on the floor and he saw them scuttle around his things. Things that were dear to him. Things that had sentimental value had been corrupted.

Over turning all of his contents he unleashed the whole power of his slippers.

Splat spalt, one buy one he took out the main generals. Those Mother Cockroaches went out first. They were too slow, and too fat.

But more were left. The runners went fleeing as fast as they could but he was swift himself.

You can’t escape a giant.

With precise aim he threw his slippers and cornered them. Splash, they were dead.

Killing almost every known creature in his draw gave him satisfaction that he didn’t know of.

But when he looked at his draw again, he was horrified to see, eggs in thousands, all over the place.

He had no option, he had to use his secret weapon.

This ingenious invention had not been used for more than 20 years, but now he had to unleash the full force of it.

Holding the spray in one hand and a lighter in the other, he aimed from above.

The lighter whisked a light flame, and as soon as he pressed the cans button, Boom, a spray of fire hit all those eggs as if a dragon was spraying terror from above.

A thousand cockroach eggs were burnt that day, but the war wasn’t over.

More lurked out there in the shadows. The battle had ended but the war had just begun.

That is how I ended up cleaning my draw when I was bored

Ashlyns Decision

He knew this day would come. That is why he was so hesitant in the start. His mind always worked on overdrive.

He could see every little possibility before it happened.

The slightest change in the tone of her voice or the way she looked at him, he could always guess what she wanted. That is possibly the reason why she liked him so much.

And when she persisted, he always refused to receprocate her feelings.

She wondered why, she even told him once, that you keep denying me and it’s affecting my self confidence.

His heart melted when she said that and he relented besides his reservations.

They went out and things were great. She was happy and so was he.

He loved taking care of her but he foresaw something.

It was her nature. She easily liked things and just as easily got bored of things.

He on the other hand liked to work on relationships even if the spark wore off.

She was young and when he started noticing the little changes in her behavior, the tone of her voice, the way she suddenly refused to even put her head on his shoulders, he understood she was losing interest.

He could see the future and he asked her straight if she was bored, but she denied it.

She should know that he can’t be lied too. He wanted her to be free even though he liked her and cared for her, the little fragile thing that she was, he wanted her to be free.

She was in Love. She was in Love with her ego. And he knew that there would never be any place for anyone in her heart until she let go of her ego.

And with a heavy heart, he left the country. He let her go. He found out that she did not care, and his doubts as always became a reality.

However he also knew that someday she would understand and grow up to be a strong woman.

Someday she would let her ego go so that she can make place for someone special. At least he hoped.

Love and the Sinking Island

*Note: This isn’t written by me. I found this story on an eBook and I thought of sharing it here because it was worth it

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love.

One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, “Richness, can you take me with you?” Richness answered, “No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.”

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. “Vanity, please help me!” “I can’t help you, Love.

You are all wet and might damage my boat,” Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, “Sadness, let me go with you.” “Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, “Come, Love, I will take you.” It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went his own way.

Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, “Who Helped me?”

“It was Time,” Knowledge answered.

“Time?” asked Love. “But why did Time help me?” Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is.”

6 Awesome Email Marketing Tips

Emails are rated as one of the most powerful tools for marketers to achieve their business goals. An email can either make or break your companies impression with your customer.

Here are 6 tips to keep in mind that will drastically improve your email marketing campaigns. Follow these suggestions and Watch your Email Open Rates reach new levels

6 awesome email marketing tips infographic

Email subject lines get cut off if they’re too long. 40% of emails are accessed by mobile users, so it becomes even more imperative to keep email subject lines short and sweet

Best practice is to keep your subject lines under 50 characters and not more than that.

This ensures people scanning their devices read the entire subject line

People are more inclined to open emails from someone who they know rather than unknown senders.

Send your emails from a personal name rather than a company name

Sending emails from a personal name gives your company a face. Sending emails from a address is a BIG No No.

3.) Personalize Badges

Use personalize badges in your emails subject lines to create a feeling of rapport with your customers

Research done by the science of email marketing showed
that emails that included the person’s name in the subject line had a higher click-through rate than those that do not.

If you cannot use the person’s name in the subject line then try using words like “You” or “Your”.

Remember: Customers Name in the Subject Line = Higher Click-through Ratio

4.) Segement Your Email Lists

Segmentation helps you give a personalized touch to your emails. Advantages of segmenting your email lists are:

  • Segmenting Email Lists Increases Relevance
  • Avoids being seen as SPAM
  • Helps you reward repeat customers

5.) Tell them what’s Inside

Be completely transparent in your subject lines about what the user will receive in the email.

If for example, you’re rewarding your reader an eBook via email, write a subject line like “Your eBook Inside” rather than “Thank You”. This will give the user clear instructions as to what his email content is about.

Sending an email at just the right time can vastly increase the open rate and click-through ratio.

For example, sending patients emails about prescription refills a week before their prescription ends can ensure that your email will be read.

These tips might seem simple however if implemented correctly, I promise you you will see positive results.

Best Mutual Funds to Invest in for the Year 2017

Basic investing is something that every person should be aware of. And while I don’t consider myself to be an expert on the matter, I have experienced a good return rate from mutual funds in the past (25,000 Rs profit).

My colleague, Tejasvi Lad, who happens to be a finance student and has worked for Angel Broking in the past was sitting idle yesterday, (she’s working here during her vacation until her college starts for her MBA programme) so I showed her how to create an infographic using Pikochart. This infographic tells us about the Best Mutual Funds to Invest in for the year 2017.

Note: This research has been done by Tejasvi, however, I advise you to do your own research before investing, as you know, market risks and all!

Best Mutual Funds 2017

All of these Mutual Funds can be purchased on a monthly basis (5000 Rs per month) via a SIP (Systematic Investment Plan). Just visit your bank and they will explain how you can go about doing it. It’s not as complex as it sounds.

I hope this helps!
